Lima 2019: 75 million dollars will be spent in Pan American games.

The most requested restaurants will be criolla food and chifas.

 

Within the framework of the development of the XVIII Pan American Games and Sixth Parapan American Games Lima 2019, the newspaper El Peruano reported that Peru will be an important destination for the arrival of 70 thousand visitors, not only for its tourist destinations, but also for its gastronomy. This is how a study by the Chamber of Commerce of Lima (CCL) estimated that Peruvian cuisine will have an economic movement of up to 75 million dollars thanks to athletes, delegations, families, fans and Peruvians who will be at the event.

 

In this line, CCL gastronomy sector president, Jorge Penny, declared that  the event will generate 250 million dollars and 30% of them would be product of the sales that will generate the restaurants, especially those of Criolla food and “chifas” ( peruvian and chinese fusion food). According to consumer trends, the most eaten dishes would be: ceviche, lomo saltado, pollo a la brasa, causa and aji de gallina. However, we should not forget fast food restaurants, which will also increase their demand but for  foreigners only.

 

Penny pointed out that the gastronomic activity increases notably the 3.5% annual registered in 2018. A foreign tourist spends, according to the studies of his organization, up to 100 dollars a day on average.
