New entry time for Machupicchu will start from 2019.
From January 1st, schedule and way of accessing Machupicchu have changed. According to the Foreign Trade and Tourism minister, Roger Valencia, this arrangement will improve access and the order in the inca citadel.
The minister stated: “This action is crucial. We must look for the order, and by doing so, the tourist will improve his experience in our citadel and we will preserve our main historic monument”.
The new regulation sounds good in order to maintain Machupicchu and improve the tourist experience, however it could cause people agglomerations, that is why you must take some precautions in order to make the most of your trip.
For example, it would be a good idea for you to arrive at the entry gates some minutes before it is indicated. Tourism related companies such as railway companies, tourist operators and ticket sellers have been notified and they will disseminate the changes in order to inform visitors.
Another point you have to take into account is checking your entry time so you won’t have any inconvenience to access the citadel. Despite the fact that it has been a week since the new year started, there were reports from tourists who overlooked their tickets and then they had issues to access Machupicchu.
The new schedule to enter Machupicchu is:
- 6:00 a.m.
- 7:00 a.m.
- 8:00 a.m.
