Peru expects to recieve 4.8 million tourists in 2019
Government works for a better positioning of exports, tourism and investments
Peru’s president, Martín Vizcarra, stated today that four million 800,000 foreign tourists are expected to be received this year, 9% higher than the arrival of visitors in 2018.
This was stated by the head of state before the Congress in the Message to the Nation for national holidays on the occasion for the 198th anniversary of Peru’s National Independence.
He said that, in the field of Foreign Trade and Tourism for development, his government seeks to position and consolidate exports, tourism and investments.
“Between January and May 2019, the arrival of international tourists to Peru increased to one million 800,000 visitors, we expect to end the year with four million 800,000, which will represent a growth of 9% compared to tourists of 2018,” he pointed out.
With regard to domestic tourism, he estimated that this year will reach 47 million trips.
“Tourism will generate 1.5 million direct and indirect jobs in 2019, so we have to take care of tourism and in that line we have just launched the 2019-2021 safe tourism strategy,” he said.
The president indicated that it is a proposal that seeks to ensure a travel experience and safe stay to various destinations.
“In support of the micro and small business, new calls for the internationalization support program of the foreign trade sector and Tourism program have been successfully launched, with competitive funds for 25 and 10 million respectively,” he stated.
