The Pan American games will have a positive impact in tourism
Receptive tourism will grow in Lima between 7 and 8 % this year, thanks to the Pan American and Parapan American games Lima 2019, stated Rodrigo Lazarte, Tierra Viva hotel chain CEO.
“ This sports event will help hotel occupancy grow in the capital,” he said, while noting that while there are improvements in the outlook for tourism, there is still more to do to grow back into double-digit.
He also stated that airport’s current infrastructure keeps being, mainly, a big issue for tourism at Lima as well for the rest of the country.
As it is known, currently, the departure and arrival of airplanes at the Jorge Chávez International Airport is limited by the saturated capacity of its facilities, particularly in the early hours of the day. The extension works on the second runway and the new passenger terminal is overdue.
Pan American games will be held in Lima from July 26 to August 11.
